Hevy vs Strong at a glance

Both are logging apps first: sets, reps, weight, templates and charts. They differ on what the free tier allows, how they handle moving your data, and whether there is a social side.

Prices are what the US App Store listings showed in October 2026. Both listings show more than one entry for some tiers without saying which is current, so check the store before you buy.

Free limits

Hevy's free tier caps routines at 4, custom exercises at 7, and stats history at 3 months. Strong's free tier caps workout templates at 3 and keeps your saved workouts unlimited. If you rotate more than three programs, both will ask you to pay.

Moving from one to the other

Hevy can import a CSV exported from Strong (Profile, Settings, Export & Import Data). The import needs the file straight from Strong, in English and kg, and routines do not come across, only workouts. Strong lets you export a CSV, but we found no way to import from another app, and its exported files cannot be loaded back.

If neither keeps you training

We make GYM RPG, so weigh this accordingly. It logs the same sets, reps and weight, then adds XP, a skill tree and a party boss, which is aimed at people who stall on motivation rather than on features. It is not a drop-in for either app: we have not published an import tool, so you would start fresh.

Choose Hevy if

  • You want the more generous free tier and the option to follow friends.
  • You are leaving Strong and want to bring your history over with a CSV import.
  • You use a Wear OS watch.

Choose Strong if

  • You want the plainest log with no social layer.
  • You prefer a one-time Forever purchase to subscribing.
  • You are on an iPhone and Apple Watch and want a minimal flow.
Amazing app! Combining workouts with a game, makes me very motivated to keep going and not fall off my training!
